The Obradorista Social Left and Interference
Happy we live celebrating the opposition
PRIANISTA foreign interference in Mexico,
to the media remain silent,
to the intellectuals not to write even a review
against this serious interference in our public affairs.
The recent foreign interference in politics in Mexico, violating and transgressing the independence, autonomy and freedom of Mexicans to decide in their public and private affairs, as was the case in President Obrador's proposal for a Constitutional Reform on Electric Power, which legally proposed to the “sovereign” Congress of Deputies, it confirmed how the economy is above politics, and that the supposed marriage between economy and politics does not exist.
The debate on economics and politics is historic. At the fall of the Berlin Wall, a single enlightened neoliberal legitimizing thought prevailed and triumphed, and that, in general terms, we thought was the most civilized and modern way of organizing life in society.
The alternative of an economy controlled by the state showed its "degeneration" and unfeasibility, in which public power prevails in the hands of a political elite that contravened the enlightened Western precepts of democracy.
The debate between economics and politics (democracy) raises some questions that need to be raised and resolved, is it possible to marry economics and politics? Has democracy with a neoliberal economic system guaranteed social justice? Is democracy needed to create a better world? Given the obvious failure of the alternatives democracy with freedom but without social justice, or the state without democracy but with a minimum of social justice, is it possible to speak of a democracy without social exclusion? of politics over the economy without tendentiously calling it dictatorships or populism?
When we saw how the US government itself intervened in Mexico to prevent the approval of the Electrical Constitutional Reform that was going to affect the interests of its private companies, it became clear that the economy, and fundamentally, preserving its interests abroad was a matter of state for the country of the North, that is to say, having as a background that the State that should not interfere in the affairs of the economy, paradoxically turns out to be a priority State matter for the United States that merits resolutions such as sending a high-ranking commission to Mexico to convince, with false ecological arguments that not even the US applies, since the energy consumption of the neighboring country forces it to produce 90% of its energy with polluting fossil fuels, that the government of President Obrador desist from intervening in the predominance of foreign companies on the production and commercialization of electrical energy the previous Energy Reform of the former president before Enrique Peña Nieto, and that did not leave any social benefit, such as lowering the cost of electricity service rates for the most needy families in Mexico and for small and medium-sized businesses.
In other words, this interventionist behavior that we recently experienced in Mexico from Western countries led by the United States reflects a double discourse and a double standard, on the one hand, the democratic mirage that has introjected us, the enlightened neoliberal system as the most civilized world that "guarantees us freedom, security and happiness", and on the other hand, we see how the western empire's fundamental concern is not democracy but the economy, and mainly, protecting its economic interests in the world, and preserving its influence in the world. territories that they have traditionally held. Although in the global panorama we can find examples of non-democratic neoliberal systems that compete with areas of influence such as China and Russia.
The Western vision of the only enlightened neoliberal legitimizing thought has failed, and this is evidenced by the deep social injustice that the world is experiencing, which, 77 years after the end of the 2nd World War, and the triumph of the Allies (United States of North America, England and France), and the prevalence of the enlightened (democratic) neoliberal social and economic system that was maintained after the fall of the communist Soviet alternative that nationalized the economy, we have not seen the promised fruits, neither security nor prosperity for a few, nor freedom in the sense of dissenting against the interests of the western empire without this implying a deadly interfering persecution, now without the military boot and if with structures of right-wing complicity (agents of the Empire) that allow the control of the peoples of the world , so the areas of territorial influence remain intact, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Part of the Middle East, etc.
Although we see that the exponential economic growth of China without democracy competes with it in trade, and Russia in arms, the Western force led by the US remains the world power due to the control it has over economic and commercial structures, the energy and armament, these are their forces and strengths of the US and its Allies, that is why today we see them trying to wear down Russia as much as possible in its war in Ukraine, supplying weapons to the nationalist extremist fanatic Zelensky (Ukraine ), and at no time calling for dialogue, even recently Gitanas Nauseda, president of Lithuania, and spokesman for the Allies, underlined: “the future of Ukraine will be decided on the battlefield (1), that is, they rule out a priori dialogue and that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia ends through negotiation, there is behind this perverse position of the Allies their economic and political interests, so, what do I It doesn't matter that the peoples of Ukraine are bled and destroyed, this reminds me of the right-wing spokesmen for the Allies in Mexico, the PRIAN, who without discussing or analyzing rejected President Obrador's Electricity Reform a priori, so we can fairly say What did it matter to them that with it electricity rates were lowered for the most needy families and that autonomy over our energy resources be recovered.
The dilemma is not to choose Soviet statism or neoliberal enlightened democracy, or Chinese neoliberal statism without democracy, but rather to accept that the alternative that was maintained, neoliberal enlightened democracy, has failed by not being able to build a world with a minimum of social justice. , that is to say, that the riches of the world serve to improve the minimum quality of life of the human beings that inhabit this world, and that the alternative to the return of an economy controlled by the state is a setback, the latter needless to say , although for some who interpret the attempts to seek alternatives to that failure as the one made by our President Obrador, it is necessary to remind him and tell him so.
It is therefore urgent to search for an alternative that regulates the economy from politics without damaging its machinery, and that allows politics from the state to play a proactive role in avoiding the excessive concentration of wealth in a few hands that is generated by the free market.
The challenge is enormous and vital to look at the human future with joy and security, without tripping over corpses due to hunger, poverty, marginalization or wars or drug violence.
The real of this failure of the unique enlightened neoliberal thought is what does not admit symbolic interdiction, simply the "being there" is with all its conceptual and ontological coordinates, and that real of the res extensive, the public, the social, and its form in which we have configured it, that real what some see as themes of action movies and part of the creativity, is the real of the world, that is, the system of exploitation built so that a few countries and a minority elite take over the riches of the world and build an epistemological framework to justify it, that even the system of exploitation and domination builds even its own framework of refutation, so that we see it in its contrast as the best alternative, therefore, any attempt to interdict the Western narrative is branded as a throwback to the old Soviet-Leninist communist formulas, and they have coined new neologisms to call them pejoratively as “populism”, a kind of decadent and pernicious rhetorical exercise of masses.
That world elite recently carried out a direct intervention, an interference without qualms and without prejudice in Mexico, our country has just experienced a brazen intervention by the dominant empire, a transgression of its sovereignty, and an attack on its democracy with the manipulation and purchase of votes of the stateless opposition to reject President Obrador's Progressive Electricity Reform. There was a local minority elite (the PRIAN, PRD and MC deputies, and the economic and media power), who acted to make this happen, and even gloated as a "democratic" triumph, some ignorant and others perverse, of the attack against the viability of Mexico as an independent nation that can build its destiny and its public life in a sovereign and independent manner, so that foreign interference invalidates the result of the vote on the Electricity Reform in the Congress of Deputies of Mexico.
As I said before, this blatant interference by foreign agents, and even directly from the United States that sent commissions to prevent the Electricity Reform from being approved, because it would go against the predominance of the energy companies of the large foreign transnationals that control the commercialization and production of energy in the world, and although the Electricity Reform left a balance between private investment and control and that of the Mexican state, 46% and 54% respectively, this was not to their satisfaction for the voracious appetite of the Western Empire led by the United States. , because they know that whoever controls the energetic controls the world.
What is at stake, in the blatant meddling and proven interference, cannot remain silent, because the future of the new generations of Mexicans is simply involved. Today, even without being born, millions are condemned to poverty and marginalization. , because it is simply not in the interests of the North country that Latin America develops, and it wants to have us as its backyard as they have always seen us, and we continue to be simply providers of natural resources without the possibility, at least, of satisfying the quality of life of our own peoples, that is the cause of our poverty and decadence, and let us not forget that there are those who still believe in entrepreneurship, and in the impossible-to-achieve self-ideal that one day we will be successful like Carlos Slim or another unattainable ideal within enlightened neoliberalism.
Lenin would say, despite the greed and shortsightedness of a few, "in countries no matter how democratic they may be, as long as capital governs, a minority will continue to hold it in their hands...", its validity is despite the fact that the Soviet alternative of nationalization of the economy has been a failure.
The dirty war has tried to define President Obrador as a man without clear ideas and ideas, and despite the fact that he came to the presidency in a democratic way, they want to place him in that obsolete Soviet communism, calling him a populist, but that is the content that they want to introject into the political marketing of the conservative opposition, and another is the reality and the historical contributions that President Obrador has been making to Mexico and the world.
Beyond his commitment and work for social justice, building a single Mexico without social classes, and his determination to fight corruption like the cancer that for some good decades has eaten away the prospect of a better future for Mexicans, and has provoked the public crisis that unfortunately we are still experiencing, President Obrador recovered democracy as a form of public life and not as a legitimizer of the "perfect dictatorship" that governed Mexico, he demystified the harmful presidential figure that, emulating the pre-Hispanic tlatoani that concentrated a harmful absolute power, so now as never before in Mexico we live a freedom and we can dissent like never before, we even exercise such freedom, that the poor opposition exercises it to insult and make fun of the presidential figure, and fundamentally it is demonstrating that we can speak of a neoliberalism of the social left, that politics can have control of the economy without nationalizing it.
We can classify President Obrador as a man of the progressive left, because he believes in real equality of opportunities, in community action, in solidarity and the common good, and fundamentally that we can build a single social class, the social class of the good and progress for all.
And aware of the debate between politics (democracy) and economics, he believes that we can reach a middle ground, a policy that can really avoid the excesses of inequality that economics entails, that is why in his attempt to flip the pyramid of power this is not means the disappearance of the extracts with which politics and the economy are articulated, and that the alternative is not nationalization or a return to state control of economic production, but to balance the imbalances in the distribution of wealth, because the affection of the privatization policies initiated by former president Salinas de Gortari were the welfare imbalances and the widening between the poor and the rich, benefiting a small elite, we could see that sensitivity in the proposal for his Electrical Reform, by leaving an "even floor" between private companies and the state, stupidly and biasedly interpreted as an attempt to regress to statism, nothing to do, President Obrador is a man of the Left aware that we have a single economic model and that if he takes care of himself, we can see that it is real that the neoliberal economy can contain social justice.
The bitterness, fury and discomfort that this political and economic class has that lost control of the Mexican state has led them to a bizarre and delusional state, thinking that with this polarized behavior it can bring them better electoral and political dividends, and it has been all On the contrary, I have pointed out that the best thing that this opposition should do if it wants to continue doing politics is to accept that the 4th Pacific Transformation of Mexico is the common place of all Mexican men and women, of all political parties and social institutions, that the rupture history that we lived in 2018 was not only a succession of public power, Mexico voted to transform itself and build another framework of social and political coexistence, another political and moral culture, and that opposition has not understood it, that is why the roots and affection that the people profess to President Obrador, because he is aware of his historical role that he has to live, and that his contribution to democracy ends in 2 024, it is therefore the Mexican people who have their destiny in their hands, and in the re-education of the political class the possibility of the success of the true democratic transition, not more of the same as we had with the PAN alternative with Fox and Calderón, Those who could lead that democratic transition and did not, were drowned and mediated by power and became pariahs of democracy and the garbage dump of history.
I invite you to see beyond the bitterness and the media war against President Obrador, and to know and support his thoughts, for them, I recommend the interview that Epigmenio Ibarra did with him, particularly on YouTube look for the second section (2), so that realize that nothing communist or capitalist, neither expropriator nor exclusionary, and if left humanist and social democrat:
“Growing can mean that there is more money but not concentrated in a few hands, that is not well-being. For example, when we grew more in Mexico, when there were more billionaires, when we had the fourth place of billionaires in the world, only the United States, Japan and Germany beat us, at the end of the Salina government we had 24 billionaires, exactly at that time it was when social inequality deepened in Mexico, then we want to grow, yes, but with well-being and we want to establish modernity from below for all with progress and justice, that is the change, it is what we want to contribute, show that it is possible, that it is viable, better than the previous model, especially what was used to face the recurring crises that occurred during the neoliberal period, we were talking about FOBAPROA, which was to borrow, as happened in Argentina recently, the IMF supposedly got involved to support it and left them bankrupt, because they poured money and money into it, debt and more debt, unleashed speculation and emptied the public coffers, and left a tremendous crisis to Argentina, be careful not like that, we are coming out with the formula of how much or how little we have is distributed in welfare”.
"We have decided to protect 70% of families in Mexico, do not forget that there is a pyramidal structure in Mexican society, there is a very broad base of poor people, a middle class so extensive and so wide, and a very minority leadership, In any case, we are going to get there, when I talk about 70%, we are talking about 25 million homes”…
