Current Politics in Mexico (2021)
With regard to signing a pact for a true democracy and moving towards a decent and efficient political regime
The quality of democracy has deteriorated for a long time, or perhaps it has never been of sufficient quality due to the inability to stop the narcissistic, selfish and individualistic drives of man himself, which slide in the opposite direction to the essence of democracy that It is the community sense of belonging, democracy involves incorporating the difference without canceling it, but this difference cannot endanger democracy itself, which implies plurality in order, diversity in unity, individuation in totality, at the end of the day, If educating has to do with a community act that should promote the development of individuals in society and influence public growth, we are facing the era of the failure of democracy as the most ordering stage of life in society, and therefore, of the educational act to learn to live in society and strengthen the social bond.
It is undeniable that the discussion on real democracy is a matter that must enter into a permanent conceptual and practical debate, as well as the role that the media powers have been playing in democracy. Although we could think that these debates are exclusive topics of intellectual harangue, and that it is up to academics and intellectuals to do so, this is not the case, since democracy is not an end station but a permanent movement in the life of man. in society, so it is not possible to think that it is only an academic discussion but also of behavior, family activity, daily actions, culture, in short, of everything that implies ways of acting and organizing public life; that is to say, parallel to the academic debate, it is necessary to limit and put aside everything that goes in the opposite direction to democracy.
Mexico is undergoing a democratic transition, which simply means the transition from a democratic simulation regime to one of authentic democracy, for this transition the recognition of the truth is not enough, in the sense that historical facts have shown that it was not lived in a true democracy, where public power responded to the interests of the majorities and the common good, but quite the opposite, democracy served to legitimize a regime of corruption and approval of interests deprived of factual power; more so when there is a permanent struggle within that transition between the factual powers that want to return to the past status quo and those that assume the position of building a true democratic political stage and the institutional, conceptual, and cultural conditions of a true social behavior. democratic.
The current bizarre scenario unfortunately lets us see how far we are from an authentic democratic debate and a praxis towards an authentic democracy, a scenario that represents a begging of the question, since a true democracy is needed to establish a true democracy. That is what I say, that the debate is not only intellectual and academic, but also practical, so it must run parallel to the academic and intellectual debate on democracy, the praxis that should aim at the reordering of behaviors, forms, and complaints of elements that infiltrate appearing to be an apparent democratic strengthening, and that are nothing more than covert forms to infiltrate the game of public power, contravening the authentic democratic debate.
The political scene in Mexico from the loss of public power of the old and degenerate political class, draws two fronts, on the one hand, the oligarchic opposition bloc, represented by an alliance of the two once great political parties PRI and PAN, who The public power competed and was relieved in the last 30 years, an alliance that confirms its very pernicious nature and incapable of assuming its mea culpa in the public crisis that Mexico is experiencing, likewise, the media power angered by the loss of privileges and the budget they received from the past regime, and deep down we can see that this alliance is promoted and sponsored by the powers that be of "businessmen", who always used politics and politicians, particularly that political class, to maintain their wealth and increase them, that is why we see how Mexico ended up being a country with those few "businessmen" who hold more than 50% of l GDP, and a vast majority distributed among the poor and the incipient middle class, thus revealing the null social justice and the democratic distribution of wealth.
The other front is the one headed by the president of the republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who represents the hope of consolidating that democratic transition and who is waging a bloody fight against the opposition bloc. AMLO's position, many times misunderstood and sometimes ignored and little taken advantage of, even by the same new oligarchic opposition bloc, has to do with democratic coherence and with his responsibility to consolidate this democratic transition and restore the lost functionality of the state and its institutions. due to the political culture of simulation practiced by the old regime, and I say wasted, because AMLO's role cannot go beyond leading Mexico towards that new true democratic regime and not to perpetuate himself in power as they try to show, It has to do with reversing the pyramid of presidential power, and such democratic coherence prevents it from being a judge and a party, that is why it is a serious error for the opposition bloc to act electorally, and not to join in and consolidate the democratic transition necessary if it wants to face and resolve the serious problems that lacerate the life in society of Mexican men and women, and give Mexico viability as a an autonomous and self-sufficient nation.
The new oligarchic opposition bloc (PAN-PRI political class, media power and economic power) cannot continue to act “as if nothing had happened”, and think and continue using the failed political strategy, that Mexico's evils are by spontaneous creation , and that these two years summarize the history of Mexico, this neither serves nor will serve as a strategy for the new oligarchic opposition bloc, on the contrary, it has served to see them without arguments and without an alternative country project. An opposition bloc that has not understood that accepting the democratic transition is an essential terrain not only to build a true democracy and a rule of law and a democratic culture; but also to legitimize the electoral competition where to present alternative projects of the country and of man and compete legitimately for public power, understanding that democracy is the debate of ideas and not the insolvent political marketing that made politics a mercantile transaction, and not the art of good governance for the community and the common good, the market does not run parallel to politics as it has been tried to establish, on the contrary, politics must determine the market, which is where the wealth of a country is really distributed.
The acceptance of the common place (the democratic transition) for the debate and the electoral contest has its a priori failure:
One, because there are no real opposition political actors, but rather political representatives of the economic power.
Two, because we are experiencing a severe crisis of the political party system in Mexico, particularly the former bipartisanship PAN and PRI, they were used for a long time only in electoral contests for economic power to maintain the status quo, reflecting an insane collusion between power. economic and political class, a situation that caused the deterioration of these political parties, and therefore, of the political party system. One way to prove this misuse made by the de facto power of the PRI-PAN political parties was like at the beginning of the new worker regime, when they saw that they could not use what was left of the discredited PRI-PAN bipartisanship, they did not hesitate to do use of figures of social organization, such as the Civil Associations, and for a time they mounted an ominous and pathetic anti-AMLO opposition front, with the name of FRENA, and tried to uproot the current government with insipid marches and fifís sit-ins in the midst of a pandemic coronavirus health system, to later abandon this project and its henchmen, and promote other supposedly social figures to continue waging the dirty war against AMLO, until today ending with the denatured opposition alliance PRI-PAN-PRD to compete electorally again this year 2021 for public power, and continue to use political parties as instruments to once again rise close to the public coffers and the juicy businesses .
Three, we can also add to this how, unfortunately, those who lead those political parties PAN-PRI-PRD refuse to move towards democracy and much less to accept the historical responsibility in the deterioration of their own political parties, and mainly, in the public crisis that Mexico is experiencing.
Although the smoke screens and the corrupted media and intellectual power try to show the opposite, the regeneration of political power is on the side of the oligarchic opposition bloc, whether for better or for worse, it is in their hands, for good if it is incorporate the democratic transition, and this will not imply disappearing or melting, but rather presenting and competing with a country project and leaving the dirty war that is not against AMLO, but against Mexico, it is they who had power for more than 30 years, They even enjoyed times when there was no pandemic or economic crisis, particularly the period of Vicente Fox where oil prices soared and the destiny of Mexico had to change, in addition to leading, unfortunately, a frustrated democratic transition; and for the worse, because their irresponsibility to fight for power for power can lead Mexico to a dangerous situation with no return, preventing a peaceful and non-violent Q4.
I have always thought that the public crisis that Mexico is experiencing has to do with a historical deviation from the aims of the Mexican Revolution, and that it occurred during the last three decades or perhaps a little longer, and that not all of the past was ominous, and that not all the characters in post-revolutionary history were rogues and corrupt. Despite the murder of FI Madero, the pillars of the modern state were being built, the PRI even lived through important periods of ideological debates and transformations, although they were not enough to assume a democratic spirit, it is enough to remember the beginnings of the league of agrarian communities and peasant unions with all their communist tendencies, and I refer to the PRI because it is the political party that had that historical responsibility of being able to build a better Mexico that was drawn with the ideals of social justice of the Mexican revolution, and was blurred by the praxis pernicious with the arrival of the technocrats headed by the unspeakable and unpunished Carlos Salinas de Gortari, who, imbued with the lights of globalization and the American dream, preferred the dollar to equality and democracy for the common good of Mexicans.
I make a parenthesis in this dissertation, to refer to the casts and professionals (chambistas) of politics who were mounted exclusively to fight for a space of power after the fall of the previous regime, and how the rats when the ship sinks come out of their burrows and jump into the water to save themselves, a situation that also questions the quality of democracy in Mexico.
The fall of the bipartisanship that governed Mexico in the last three decades, resulted in thousands of “political professionals” being left without work (job), and this caused us to see the constitution of countless diverse political parties, such as companies to generate employment, both national and local, all with a characteristic, without a political ideology that distinguishes and differentiates them, all built by personal splits of the PRI and the PAN, so we can see that in the desire to appear original they appropriate names , legends, etc., as for example, in several states emuls have emerged from the left-wing political movement that emerged in Spain in the protest movements of May 15, 2011 (1), also called the “movement of the indignant”, which later it became a left-wing political party called Podemos today, which governs in coalition with the PSOE Spain; and very much to the Mexican, they have appropriated the name but without the minimum knowledge or the handling of the theses that arose in that social movement in Spain. Thus we see those political parties organize themselves and think that it is only a matter of complying with the registration requirements demanded by the INE, with declarations of principles all the same, without the slightest ideological conviction, and if in order to arrive "at fucking power ”This is how Progressive Social Networks RSP and Fuerza por México FM have emerged at the national level, and in Veracruz, Todos por Veracruz; Cardenista Party, Unidad Ciudadana, and Podemos. I invite you to do a simple exercise to exemplify what I am saying, when you look for them to ask for the vote or to join, ask them a simple question, what distinguishes them from the other political options ?, and they will surely check their lack of coherence , definition, repetitions of poor and common analyzes, and in the end they will realize that they do not even know what they are defending, and that they do not have the slightest idea of how to solve the serious problems of citizens, they will find poses, strings of phrases disjointed and poor voluntarist rhetoric.
The political situation looks neither easy nor promising, but dangerous and deadly:
If we do not take up the democratic and civil causes.
If the necessary context of a conceptual debate and praxis of democracy is not accepted.
If the terrible and dangerous role of media power is not limited and what can continue to harm democracy in Mexico.
If the transition of democracy between locals and strangers is not accepted.
If we do not make the factual (economic) power understand that its practice in defense of its personal interests can lead Mexico to a very dangerous situation for peaceful coexistence among Mexicans, and that an authentic democratic state where free economic competition is better for it be clean and transparent, and do not depend on collusion with political power as has happened.
If we do not make the opposition bloc assume the democratization of its political parties, the generational change and a healthy distance from economic power.
If the role of responsible for this democratic transition represented by our president of the republic is not understood and accepted.
It is time to sign a Moral and Civility Pact not only between state governments but also with businessmen, the clergy, and the main public actors, to guarantee a clean and transparent democratic electoral competition on June 6, 2021 , where 15 governorships and more than 21 thousand positions of popular election will be elected, and that the best men and the best women are elected, the best proposals to get out of the public crisis that we are experiencing today, and we can move towards a new regime in plurality and democracy.
Once and for all we must understand that whoever wins will not be able to evade this transition towards true democracy, the regulation of media power and a healthy distance from economic power, if we want to build a better Mexico, in peace and happiness, and learn from the history.
We don't have another chance!
1.- Wikipedia.-The Movement 15-M, also called the movement of the indignant, 2 was a citizen movement formed as a result of the demonstration of May 15, 2011, called by various groups, where after several groups of people spontaneously decided to camp in squares of different cities in Spain that night, 3 a series of peaceful protests took place in Spain, with the intention of promoting a more participatory democracy away from the bipartisanship PSOE-PP (binomial called PPSOE) and the dominance of banks and corporations, as well as a "true division of powers" and other measures with the intention of improving the democratic system.
It has brought together various citizen groups with different slogans, such as that of the May 15 demonstration: "We are not puppets in the hands of politicians and bankers" or "Real democracy NOW! We are not merchandise in the hands of politicians and bankers.
